Larry's Statue

On January 18, 2010, plans were revealed  during a press conference at Larry Holmes  Ringside, for the proposed 9-foot bronze statue of the Easton Assassin, Larry Holmes. It will be sculptured by Brian Hanlon of Toms River, NJ.  The statue will weigh 600-800 pounds and constructed to last for hundreds of years. The statue will be placed in Scott's Park  across the street from the Champs office and restaurant . Mayor Sal Panto claims it will be the centerpiece of Easton's waterfront revitalization project. Larry hopes it will inspire kids who don't expect to achieve great things.

Brian Hanlon posed the statue thru his inspirations of Larry's fights. The cocked left from the Norton fight, the right from the Earnie Shaver's fight and the stance from the 1980 Ali fight.

Leading the project is Jim Jennings of Waterbucket Media of Easton. Only 48 sponsors will have their names engraved on the wall behind the statue or have their names engraved on the statue's base. There will also be 500 bricks around the base of the statue that contributors can choose to have their names engraved on them. The project is expected to be completed by July.
